About Judge Boyd

Judge Andrea Boyd is sure to enliven your next conference or event with her enthusiastic and dynamic communication style. As an accomplished judge, attorney, entrepreneur, and gifted communicator, Judge Boyd brings enormous expertise, insight, and energy to her presentations. 

In 2003, Judge Boyd relocated to Georgia as a single mother with three children. She was determined to not only show her children a different life, but to provide a better life for them.  Judge Boyd earned her Bachelors Degree from Troy University and her Juris Doctor at Atlanta’s John Marshall Law School. Despite a lack of mentors, Judge Boyd was inspired to move up the corporate ladder to self-employment, creating her own successful law firm. 

Judge Boyd made history when she was appointed Chief Judge of the City of McDonough Municipal Court by a unanimous vote from Mayor Sandra Vincent and the City Council in July 2022. She is the first woman and African American to hold the position of Chief Judge.  As a new jurist, Judge Boyd coined her judicial philosophy as FAIR, which encompasses: fair, accessible, impartial and respectful. Judge Boyd is a member of various professional and community organizations. As an appointed official and community leader, Judge Boyd is committed to public service beyond the bench.  

Having been a teen mother, college dropout and welfare recipient, but overcoming those and many other obstacles, Judge Boyd has a passion for women returning to college and women who are “reinventing” themselves later in life. In every talk, Judge Boyd draws upon her personal wisdom, powerful experiences and business acumen, combined with industry data and information to help her audience both emotionally identify with the intended message and rationalize the change they need to effect in their lives.

Judge Boyd is boldly transparent and candidly shares her story of unimaginable odds, disappointments, failures and successes to empower women everywhere to activate their passion, identify their purpose and fulfil their promise.
